Two day Batik workshop

€130.00

Create your own wax-resist artwork in a relaxed, intimate setting

Join artist Angela Wilson in her home studio in Kinsale for a hands-on introduction to the beautiful art of batik. Small group sizes mean you'll get plenty of one-to-one guidance — no experience needed.

What to expect

Day One – Learn different wax-resist dyeing techniques, then start designing your own piece.

Day Two – Complete your artwork (and maybe squeeze in a second one!).

You'll go home with your very own A3 batik artwork on cotton, plus the know-how to keep creating.

  • When: Two days, 10:00–16:30 each day, multiple dates available for 2026; 25th June, 9th July, 24th August, 21st September, 15th October.

  • Where: Angela's studio, Kinsale, P17 WH17

  • Who: Adults of all skill levels

Bring: Your lunch (microwave available), clothes you don't mind getting dye on (or an apron and gloves), and any images that inspire you — photos on your phone, postcards, anything you love.

Provided: Tea, coffee, and refreshments throughout.

Interested in weekend dates? Get in touch — more options may be added based on demand.

This hands on event is held in the artists home studio so group numbers are small giving plenty of time for individual questions. This course is for adults only and no experience is required. Dyes are used so wear appropriate clothes/ bring an apron and gloves. Feel free to bring photos on your phone, favourite art cards etc. to provide inspiration for your artwork but designs will be created in the workshop following an introduction to the batik medium and with guidance from your host artist, Angela Wilson.

Day one will introduce you to different methods of dying material using wax resist, you’ll then move onto designing your own art piece.

Day two will see the completion of your artwork and perhaps another quick piece, time allowing.

You’ll leave with an understanding of batik including different wax options as well as your own A3 artwork on cotton.
